Welcome to the history page.  Here you will be able to find out information about Winter Snowland.

The Christmas display started back in 1988.  I was only 7 years old at the time. The Christmas display started with a few items and lots of lights.  From there every year after that Winter Snowland grew till what  it is today.  The holiday display consumes a lot of energy during the month of December.  The holiday display uses about 65+ amps which gives me a shock in January when the power bill comes in.

Winter Snowland takes about 2 months  to put up and should be running normal hours by the 2nd Saturday in December. The Christmas display is stored all flat, so when it comes out every thing is in pieces and needs to be bolted together.   I enjoy doing the display.  The joy I see in the faces of those who stop by to view and enjoy it makes my efforts and expense worthwhile.   I hope you will take the time to look over the web site.  Better yet, when the display is operating, grab a warm coat, bundle up the family and head on over to Burbank to check out the Christmas display in person. Be sure to check the weather before you come over.  If raining or rain is in the forecast for that evening the display will be off for that night.  So head back to the start page to check the weather.

Frequently ask Questions

Q:    Where do you store all of this?

A:    Fortunately most all of the Christmas display was hand made and unbolts to

        flat sections for easy storage.

Q:    When did you first start your display.

A:    Winter Snowland started back in 1988, with a few items and lots of light.  From

there every year after that the holiday display grew till what it is today.

Q:    How much is your power bill?

A:     It consumes about 65+ AMPS which typically adds about $80 to $90 a week to

        my electric bill.

Q:    Do you work for Disney?

A:    No.

Q:    What's it like having this big elaborate Christmas display in your front yard?

A:    It is like having a smaller version of Disneyland in your yard.  But with no

        admission.

Q:    How did you get your start?

A:    I got my start from my neighbor, who has a big elaborate Holiday display up

the street from mine.  Check it out at Norton's  Winter Wonderland

Q:    How long do you leave the display up?

A:    The display will be up from about the 1st weekend in December and running

until December 26th.  But try to come before that final night.  The closer to

Christmas we get, the more crowds of people come.  Parking is always a

challenge, so try to arrive early to find that good parking spot.  And remember

the display will be off if raining or rain is in the forecast for that evening.

Q:    What is new for "2008"?

A:    Stay tuned!
