You’ve probably noticed that green is everywhere these days--in the news, politics, fashion, and even technology. We are also trying to do our part as well. Since 2006 we have been adding LED lights to our display to replace our incandescent light strings to reduce our energy cost, as well as to reduce our Carbon Footprint. Every year we will be adding more LED lights not only to make the display brighter but also to do our part. LED lights require only a tiny 10-20% of the power required to produce the same amount of light as an incandescent lamp. LEDs produce directional light and the light more closely resembles natural light. LEDs are cool to the touch and have a long life span as opposed to an incandescent lamps. Aside from their energy saving features, LED lights are ecologically friendly to the environment both due to their long life span, which reduces waste and garbage. LEDs are the newest and upcoming generation of lighting that will be commonplace in the near future. |

Creating an elaborate Christmas display has been a tradition of mine for 23 years now. I built my first Christmas display in 1988. Each year the holiday display has grown in size and in power. Today the Christmas display covers just about every inch of our front yard and most of the roof.
It takes a lot of work to plan out the locations where everything will be placed. I really have to plan the electrical wiring carefully because the Christmas display takes a lot of power. It uses about 70 amps. In fact, I burned up the main breaker in 2001. As you can imagine, the power used by this holiday display gives me a shock in January when the power bill arrives from the City of Burbank. Since 2006 we have been adding LED lights to the display to reduce energy. Over the last five years of adding LED lights we have dropped over 20 amps of power on the display. We are doing our part to save!!
The kids enjoy watching all of the animation and looking at thousands of Christmas lights. The holiday display has won lots of awards over the years and has been featured behind the weather on the major TV networks. In 2001, this holiday display was shown live on National TV (NBC Today Show - Weekend Edition) when I was interviewed by David Bloom. In 2000, it was one of the major topics of discussion on CBS's Early Show with Brian Gumble. It was also shown on TV from coast to coast both those years.

I was very honored to have Winter Snowland featured in 2002 in David Seidman's new book entitled Holiday Lights. The book outlines all of the thousands of lights and animation that the holiday display features. Below is a flyer advertising the book. The other two images are the article about Winter Snowland and our neighbors display as well.

Winter Snowland is usually up from the first weekend in December, until the 26th of December.
Winter Snowland is located at 529 N. Florence Street in Burbank, California. We are conveniently located between the 134 and the I-5 freeways in the heart of Magnolia Park. Here is a map so you can find my Holiday Display when it is up and running. The normal display hours are 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. Some times longer hours on the weekends. The display will be off if raining or rain is in the forecast for that evening.

With two major Christmas displays on our block, parking is always a challenge particularly on the weekends. As Christmas Eve approaches, the sidewalks in our block are typically packed between and in front of the two Holiday displays. In fact, visitors have said to me that the crowds remind them of Universal City Walk! So arrive early and get that good parking spot, and get out and enjoy the sights and sounds of Christmas "live!" For those of you who do not get to see my Winter Snowland live and have questions, check out our FAQ page under the History button at the top, or just click FAQ to be taken there.
You can check out the weather via the link to the Weather site. Just enter our zip code (91505). Remember - if rain is forecast, the Holiday display will not be on. So, please check it out before you come over to make sure the display will be operating.

Happy Holidays From our Family to yours!
